"I support adults with anxiety, stress, loss and relationship challenges, helping them rebuild confidence and emotional balance."

About Me

I am Singapore-based counsellor who believes that healing doesn’t come from “fixing” yourself, but from understanding yourself more deeply. I work with adults who may appear to be coping on the outside, yet feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected within, often due to difficult relationships (or loss of relationships including loss of pets), workplace stress, or past experiences.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practices such as CBT and trauma-informed modalities. I am particularly passionate about supporting individuals recovering from toxic environments, rebuilding self-confidence, and learning to set healthier boundaries.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace, while also developing practical tools for everyday life.

I holds a Master’s degree in Counselling and I committed to ongoing professional growth to better support my clients’ evolving needs.

I am a member of the Singapore Association for Counselling.

What is the professional background and clinical experience of this therapist?

Hi, my name is Chitra. I am a mental health counsellor based in Singapore. I bring over two years of experience in counselling and over 10 years of experience in corporate HR. This gives me a blend of real-life working experience as well as clinical insights that I bring into the session. I transitioned into counselling because it gave me a greater sense of purpose and meaning to work with individuals on day-to-day challenges and life struggles.

What is the clinical philosophy and therapeutic approach of this therapist?

So my clinical approach is collaborative and compassionate, and I use trauma and attachment focus. I use clinical-based interventions and evidence-based theories, so things like CBT, EMDR, SFBT, and I continue to grow, I keep adding new skills, new modalities to my expertise. So I really believe in continuing growth and using the best possible modality for my clients.

Which client populations and mental health concerns does this therapist specialise in?

I work with individuals that are high-performing and high-functioning. What that means is you might feel like you're fine on the outside, people might think you're doing great, but on the inside you're overwhelmed, you're lost, stuck, and maybe just emotionally exhausted. So I work with individuals to help them in feeling unstuck, feeling like we need to find a way to move forward. And the solutions that we find are not just temporary but also long-lasting changes.

How does this therapist's approach align with the Dr OM & Associates philosophy?

I joined Dr OM & Associates because I see the ethical standards that they adhere to as well as the client commitment. I also noticed an inclination to really work with the clinicians and making the clinicians' work a lot easier too, so that we can focus on giving the best therapeutic experience to our clients. And what I mean is the system that they have here, trying to automate things that are mundane or just trying to make the administrative things a little easier—those are some things that I truly valued and aligns with how I think as well. I like making big impact and not fussing over the small stuff.

What are the tips this therapist has for his followers?

One tip I would give for someone processing grief or loss is there's no right way to grieve. Everyone has their own journey. A lot of times we get caught up in how someone might perceive how we are grieving and that journey is nobody else's but yours. So what I would say is it's your journey, you don't need to rush it, and there's no right framework to follow. So take your time and most importantly, there's no need to run away from these feelings or try to suppress them. Feel it. It's painful and it is really horrible that it's happening, but we need to let ourselves feel and when we feel it is when the processing happens.
